The Select Mortgage Loan Originator is responsible for contacting prospective borrowers and guiding them through the loan application and approval process. This role reports to SVP, Production and interacts regularly with the broader originator team, borrowers, prospective borrowers, processors, and underwriters.  

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

These are the most significant job duties performed. The size, scope and complexity of assigned responsibilities are dependent on the level and experience of the incumbent. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each assigned essential duty satisfactorily. Other responsibilities or special projects not specifically mentioned may also be assigned. 

  • Conduct all business in compliance with all applicable federal, state and local laws, ordinances and regulations
  • Assist borrowers in the completion of loan applications, explain various loan programs, explain the steps required to complete the loan application process, qualify borrowers for appropriate  mortgage loans, price and lock loans in compliance with all applicable laws and Company  procedures, offer and negotiate terms of mortgage loans, assist borrowers in the closing and  funding process
  • Use and maintain the data integrity for all systems provided by Company for the conduct of business to ensure accurate and timely processing of business and accurate and timely creation  of business records. This includes but is not limited to the loan origination system, prescribed automated underwriting systems, if applicable, and payroll and accounting systems. Use no other systems without the prior written consent of Company
  • Assist in the development of new business and business sources
  • Use and maintain data integrity for systems provided by the company for accurate and timely processing of business and records

Minimum Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent and at least six months of customer service, sales, or related experience; or equivalent combination of education or experience; AND
  • NMLS Exam passed, licensed in at least one U.S. state (Paid for by Zero Mortgage)
  • Must have a book of business or referral sources that consistently send business
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Proven track record of success, strong work ethic and results oriented 
  • Ability to set and achieve personal production goals
