Summary:

The Call Center Mortgage Loan Originator (MLO) plays a pivotal role in reaching out to potential borrowers and expertly assisting them through the mortgage loan application and approval journey. Reporting directly to the Senior Vice President (SVP) of Production, this position involves active collaboration with the wider originator team, current and prospective borrowers, loan processors, and underwriters.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Proactively engage with prospective borrowers through phone, email, and other communication channels to initiate the mortgage loan application process.
  • Thoroughly assess the financial needs and goals of borrowers, helping them select the most suitable mortgage loan products.
  • Offer expert guidance and assistance to borrowers throughout the entire loan application process, ensuring a seamless and informative experience.
  • Gather and validate essential financial documentation required for loan applications, including income statements, credit reports, and other relevant information.
  • Educate borrowers about the mortgage loan terms, conditions, and interest rates to help them make informed decisions.
  • Collaborate closely with the originator team to ensure a smooth transition from the application phase to loan processing and underwriting.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of borrower interactions and application progress using relevant software and databases.
  • Communicate effectively with loan processors and underwriters to facilitate timely approvals and closings.
  • Stay current on industry regulations and lending guidelines to ensure compliance and provide accurate information to borrowers.
  • Continuously seek opportunities for professional development and improvement in the field of mortgage loan origination.

Education & Experience:

Minimum Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; bachelor’s degree in finance, business, or a related field is a plus.
  • Mortgage Loan Originator (MLO) license or the ability to obtain one as per state requirements.
  • Proven experience in mortgage loan origination or a related customer service role in mortgage lending.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Proficiency in using mortgage loan origination software and other relevant tools.
  • Knowledge of lending regulations and guidelines.
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to providing outstanding customer service.
